Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hello, probably not a good post for a newbie here... but...

I just got a MPC 2000xl SE-3 off ebay. It was a few weeks ago that I got it, and I am just now starting to delve into it.

I was trying to mess with setting the end points for a loop, and I tried to do this using the slider... Nothing. So I google, and find out about the PADCHK funtion that allows you to test your pad and slider. The slider number does not change at all when I move it... so it appears to be broken.

I probably paid more for this sampler than I should have, $700, and now I'm feeling pretty bad about getting an mpc with a bunk slider when the auction claimed everything was in perfect working order.

The seller offered a a 14 day refund, and I'm past that time, so any advice? Suck it up and send it away for repair, or try to haggle with the seller? We've both already left positive feedback, the sampler looked pristine, and I didn't have a chance to really start messing with it until this week.

I keep getting emails from the seller which is a music shop about purchasing a warranty for the item... which just makes me paranoid.

Anyhow... is the slider something pretty darn integral, or can I do without it for awhile?

Using the padchk function, the number should change when moving the slider, right? Could I be overlooking something? Do I need to intially enable the slider or something?

Sorry in advance for the stupid question...

Thanks,
Malta

Read the manual to get the details on the slider and see if it's something you need.

Threads have been done many times on slider repair here on the forums, do a search.
