2000xl zone sample trim in same program

First, I have to say thank you to all for the information posted on these forums. But I have one question which which will probably seem pretty basic and hopefully is an easy answer...

Whenever I go to make a new beat I find myself having to sample and trim first. I have to start a new program that will begin with my new trimmed up zones, then I go and load my drums etc. onto the other pads and banks. Several times when I start with the drums and then go to grab a sample and trim into zones and hit do it, then it asks do you want a new program? If I say yes, then the drums I had loaded are lost, if I say no, then the trimmed sample parts are gone. Do I have to save them or pull them up out of memory somewhere? How do I get my samples back and keep the drums?

I have read the manual 2 or 3 times, searched the forums, and Ihave been trying to figure out what I am doing wrong, perhaps I need to start looking at using multiple programs?

The samples should still be in the memory, did you go into the program screen and try scrolling through the list of samples in your memory? Try scrolling through the programs in there too.

i only choose yes on the make program option when i chop my first sample.

if i chop another sample then i choose no and assign the sounds manually to the pads i want.

when you chop in zone and then go to programs and turn the knob in the assign section you will see all your chopped sounds from beginning to end.

seriously, read the manual and you will probly never have to ask a question here again and you will be answering them instead.

Yeah should have figure the answer was look back to the manual...thanks foureyes and fung45 for your help; I guess part of the problem was I didn't know where to look for the samples after they were zoned. Didn't catch that understanding from the manual.
