strangeness with downloaded MIDI files

Hi,
I play drums in a covers band and we use my MPC to sequence synth parts off a module. I downloaded MIDI files of tracks and the MPC reads and plays the sequence fine. The problem I'm having is no matter what sound I assign to the MIDI channel on the synth module, when I press Play Start the sounds revert back to those in the original multi. I'm assuming this is down to something set on the sequence but I can't figure what. Any suggestions?

sounds like you need to assign the sounds to seperate midi channels or tracks. That or make sure your sound module is multi-timb. Not exactly sure but i would check the specs of your gear. Sorry i couldnt be much more help.

its the program change getting sent every time to restart the sequence, what u wanna do is go into step edit for each midi track, and remove any data you dont need. ie program changes. leave the notes, you should actually b able to insert the right pgm's so your mpc loads the might patches on your module, unless u already have performances set up with the proper midi channel and instrument assignments.

Sounds like it's some setting in the synth. I know my JV has a performance/patch mode and a few other modes and I have to assign the sounds to the channels in performance mode for it to work.

try importing a midi file exported from abelton. make the 2000xl crash. i really should let them now about that.
