Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

ok so i have had this issue for a long while...
say i have a sample that plays long but i use the 16 levels and make changes through out the seq...
but when i switch over to the next sequence its overlaps or plays into the next area that i dont need it to... is there a way to set samples to only run in a certain seq?

i have worked with the mute and note off... but i cant really get it to work right...
plus the mute messes up the current seq its in since the samples i use in the next sequence are being used a little in the prior seq...

if this doesnt make since let me know

peace

Only sequence it in that sequence.

Use NOTE OFF, and hold the sample however long you want it to play.

Listen to it and see if is on point and stops where you want.

Afterwards go into STEP EDIT and edit the actual DURATION up/down to where it meets the end of the sequence.
That will ensure that the sample ends when the sequence ends.

Step Editing
The Step Edit screen allows you to finely edit MIDI data on a track or enter data one at a time from
the drum pads or a MIDI keyboard.

D: This is the duration (length of note on).

i dont get the envelope effect as well with the not off...

Yeah the blank pad thing will work as well, that's a "realtime" manual process.

Whereas the step edit duration thing is more of a precise programming process.
