Any Advice for a IDIOT!

What up fam,

Its been a hot minute since my last post, But i'm back. Ok it started like a week or so after I first got my MP2Kxl back in Aug. I noticed that one day my floppy drive would work flawlessly and the next day it would only read 1 or 2 disk. This wasn't a problem at all until I really started to get into the groove of things wanted more sounds for my beats. So the first thing I did was clean the floppy drive with one of those compressed air things you get at walmart, Well it didn't work . So I found the magic of MIDI and use my keyboard for all my sounds which was great until I realized how my sounds were limited to a few drums (I have a cheap CASIO). So I final get fed up, Now me being the A+ Certified computer nerd I am, I think anything that has a motherboard I can fix. So I go into the closet an pull out a older computer hat has some IDE cables and a old floppy drive. To make a long story short(er). I find out that my MPC an my computer has different types of IDE cables and slots. Well me being a jack@$$ I go an pull one of the pins out the stock mpc floppy drive and a pin out the IDE slot on my mpc motherboard! Luckily something told me not to pull a pin out the main slot instead I pulled a pin out of the slot beside the main IDE slot (the one without the clips.) I then get excited because my computer IDE cable fits my mpc floppy drive and the slot! I plug those babies up an guess what, NO POWER..none, not a light or anything! So I get disappointed thinking I ruined my MPC the I set everything back up to the stock settings an it works again! But guess what since I pulled that one pin out,my floppy drive is now ruined. So I go order a SCSI Cable and when it get here I find out that my MPC has a blown fuse. (Or I think is blown.) Because when I hook it up an power it on then go to SCSI it has a waiting... screen. I dont know what to do. Please any advice would be appreciated!

the computer floppy cable in the doesnt have all the pins like the mpc. It has a plug in the second one from the bottom on both of the connection ends but the mcp has all the pin slot open..I know that the SCSI had nothing to do with it I just added that to stress the fact that I have no way to add sounds now..

IDE floppy drive should work, go to a pawn shop and get another one for <$10. What are you hooking up to the SCSI port?

A Zip Drive

My dude....My mans just asked you What are you hooking up to your SCSI port?..You replyed a zip drive. Ay good luck with the floppy situation but that zip drive is all you really need 2 me, I use my zip drive for everything even loading my OS...So use that for your sounds format the zip in the MPC put that boy in the computer save them wav sounds put that boy back into the MPC hook up that midi with that keyboard......Start producing....FUK DAT FLOPPY!

Waiting.... screen could mean blown SCSI fuse but it's more likely you are trying to use the wrong kind of zip drive. It has to have two small grey switches on the back.

Ohh so any ol zip drive wont work... I though that was the problem.. other that eBay you know where else I might be able to find one with the terminals? PS Thanks Alot

Check thrift stores and pawn shops in your area, if you tell them the technology is obsolete they might sell you it for cheaper.

Ok thx I will try some thrift stores. Does anyone have a pic of a zip drive with the terminal? I have been searching google but nothing valuable comes up.

thx alot mines look noting like that in the back.. Mines just has the 2 ports 1 female 1 male... So if I find a Zip with a terminal. An my fuse isnt blown, it will work.. even tho it doesnt work now with out the terminal.
