Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By MISTAFLOW Thu Apr 01, 2004 12:51 am
I was wondering if anyone has any experience converting sound files from the .AU extension / format (compatible with MPC2000 & 2000XL & possibly some others ) to a different format such as .WAV - I am running into problems trying to convert some samples on my pc. I have found one audio program that will do it but I refuse to drop nearly $100 bucks to buy it & the demo version is just a tease. Anyone know of an audio utility of anything else that might help? Not sure if I need a codec or something else. Thx in advance...

I paid for Awave, it supports many different file formats. Try that. Demos are meant to be a tease, they are samples of the real thing just for you to check out, c'mon you know that already.

Awave was exactly the program I was referring to in my original post. $100 bucks is ridiculous to shell out for ANY program in my personal opinion - And, I brainstormed last night & to my digital delight I discovered that the demo version of Cool Edit (v. 2.1 free to download & use for 21 days) will open, recognize, play, convert, & everything else all AU, SND, & other MPC (Akai) formatted files. Better still was that the free demo version includes a fully functional batch converter, so I was able to do my derty work & everything I needed... Thanks for your input tho Lampodog!!!
