Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

hey there, first post, i just got my MPC2kXL and im trying to work my way thorugh the manual to start lerning.

i hooked up a SCSI cd-rom drive which is recognized properly by the MPC, i can browse the files on a quickly burned CD (.wav .snd .pgm ....) but i can't load them like it's described in the manual.

for example, if i choose to load a simple .wav kick or snare there appears "loading xxx.wav" or sometime "wait..." for a few secs but then nothing happens. i don't get the window where i can choose "play" "dscard" and "keep" and the free memory stays the same, so it's obviously not loading anything. sometimes i don't even get the "loading xxx.wav" and just nothing happens.

same with programs, i managed to load 2 or 3 small example .pgm's and was able to play them, but only after hitting "do it" several times. some programs won't load at all, the file selection just jumps back to the first .pgm in list.
and after or while loading the .pgm the mpc jumps to se "setup" section where i can define my primary device (which is my SCSI cd-rom at the moment)

could you please try helping me figure out the problem?

thanks for the quick anser, but none of the file names is longer than 8 characters. they are mainly free sample files from mpc-samples.com.

while trying to load some more .wav's i experienced that the mpc sometimes plays the file once after "loading..." but then again nothing happens, i can't choose to keep the sound or assign it to a pad and file selection jumps to the first sound in the folder on the cd.

i tried a few more things.

i'm able to load midi files into a sequence, but still no success with .snd .wav and some .pgm's

any ideas?

would i help if i make a video?

after reading here + the manual all day i'm convinced either my OS is **** up or my SCSI-fuse is broken...

figured it had to be broken somehow and was able to return it...

just in case if somebody was thinkin about the problem, or someone wants to close this.
