KEYBOARD OR MPC 2000XL

my boys friend got a studio he got a korg triton, pro tools, plus more
im starting my mini studio i got a mpc 2000xl, acid pro.
i heard some of his beats they were coo but to me the beats sound fuller and more live on the mpc not so programed i guess.
does he just not know how to make beats all that good yet,
or does the korg give off that style of beat. i know one day ill want a keyboard,but to me it seems the mpc is a keyboard in its own(padboard)

basiclly i just want start a discusion on mpcs vs keyboards
the good points and bad points of each.

use both. the triton is a workstation. it has a sequencer on it already. im not sure how good it is, but the triton is used a lot in pro studios. i say use both. the mpc cant be touched when it comes to hardware sequencing (in my opinion).

You should ask your boyfriend..... nah, j/k, Take your MPC over there and SAMPLE his Triton. You can have the same ish.

i would say the mpc, but the mpc isnt a keyboard. yes you can load up samples and play them on the pads, but its NO keyboard. i had my mpc before i had a keyboard but couldnt do much with it besides playing with samples and sounds but i couldnt play chords or nuttin. maybe the triton would fit you...i know nothing about it so i couldnt tell you the benefits of havin the korg. the mpc is a sequencer sampler and drum machine. the korg has a sampler, sequencer, and has drum sounds. i guess it's up to you. whateva is easier for you....

your boy just dont know how to make beats. they both sequence and sample. Just the triton has presets and keys. It all depends on if you want to produce with samples (mpc) or samples and presets (triton). I like seqeuncing and sampling on the mpc, hence no need for a triton.

so does it sust depend on your prefrence,
or is a keyboard better for say strings and piano keys
and mpc for beats,

for example could you make the same song on both down to every note are they capable of the same thing.

Skill is skill. The MPC comes with no sounds in it and pads.
Keyboard = sounds and keys

Just preference.
If you sample alot, the MPC
If you make beats with sounds at your fingertips, triton.

so if you had them buth would that be a super setup
or just a wast of money

No that would be dope. You got tons of sounds at hand and the MPC2000xl's sequecning. So you have the best of both worlds. You would just be usin the Triton as a MIDI controller and sound module. The mpc would be best as sequencer sampler , and drum machine.

so you would make beats and your samples on the mpc a use the triton for strings,harmony,piano keys, ect...
this would make it a little easyer then you dont have to**** with strings,harmony,piano keys, ect... on your mpc....
