beginner?

basic basic beginner with problems if anyones got a minute-
whats the deal wit the SCSI device, everything was all hooked up and running, switched it off and then on again now I cant load anything cuz its telling me 'No SCSI Device!' but nothings actually changed?
common problem?

It sounds simple, but check you've put the disk in before you switch to the zip.

Make sure your not using a paralle port zip drive. this wont work it has to be SCSI.

also check the ID selector switch at the back of the drive. i think it needs to be set to 5.
i'll double check and let you know.

sometimes, it doesnt recognize the drive the first time, you have to switch to another scsi device (say scsi 4, even if there is nothing there), then switch back to the zip drive (in my case scsi 5). I always have to go to 4 first, and then back to 5.
