Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

YO,

As a brand new owner of a MPC 2000, I cant get it to record a sample. I've read the manual, tried different combinations, but nothing works.

My problem is: It will not even start recording. When hitting the RECORD button at Sampling mode it says "time:too short to record", and wipes the time slot blank (_ _ _ : _s). I've tried times from 00.1 to 100.0, and between. It actually wipes it blank every time I move the cursor to some other position. Why is this?

I apologize for my somewhat stupid question, and thank you all in advance.

Ok move the cursor to "Time:" and hit open window. What is on the display now??

I guess the RAM doesn't have enough contact to the pins (I had the same problem with my 2000. It showed me 2 MB although 32MB were installed). So you can open up the MPC take out the RAM Sticks. Take some Isopropyl and a QTip and clean the RAM Slot and the contacts of the sticks and put it back in. Wait a few minutes and turn it on. It should be ok then. (ok it should be ok if a dirty RAM is the problem ;) )
