Strange 16 levels issues

Every once in a while when I go into 16 levels, note variation to be specific my MPC will only let me select keypad 4 as my sample's normal tuning. It's really odd because if I save my programs and sequences and restart the machine go to 16 levels with the same sample as before I get the normal 4-13 choice. Anyone have any similar experiences? Not a big deal but if anyone thinks its a sign for a future repair the insight would be appreciated.

i have the same problem, i guess this is normal. don't know why this is. wasn't it only with long samples? dont remember. when i first noticed i was a bit concerned, but when it worked again with another sample i thought that there must be some kind of technical limitation of the mpc.

I tried it and also got no luck so the only way to change the default setting is to do some hacking to the OS (some things like all the text stuff is relative easy to hack)

I think it has something to do with samples that are already pitched down alot, you can't assign them to pads higher than 4 because the mpc can only pitch bend things down to -240

If I remember correctly in this situation I think that the machine would allow the note assign but to a certain degree all pads past a note just repeat that note.

I think the situation I tried to describe above may just by some finicky (sp?) situation. Now that I think about it I use the 16 level note variation the most with longer bass samples set to the "note off" function. Acknowledging the long sample theory above. Well regardless its comforting to hear that it doesn't seem to be a sort of MPC death sign.
