MPC2500 tutorial by MPC2000 user?

So my friend got a 2500.
I use the 2000 classic. I've schooled some dudes on the XL before, but what are some features that make the 2500 different. What are the must-use features that separate the 2500 from the 2000 classic?

i'd say the best part of the 2500 to me is jjos. more specifically the adsr and workflow improvements made to the grid edit, chop shop (nondestructive chop, adjustable slices via slice function and data wheel, and the divide/combine functions). also notable are the filters and program screens. oh yeah, the trim screens in the edit section are dope too -- fade in, out, insert silence, pitch shift etc etc

Oh yeah and when chopping, you can make the 2500 add a timestretched decay at the end of every chop.

When you use the "chop shop" feature, it gives you the option of converting the slices into seperate sample( and make a new program with them) or into a patched phrase. patched phrase hardly ever sounds usable though.

I'm familiar with slice on the 2000xl, tell me more about patched phrase.

patch phrase takes all of the chop(slices) and adds a liitle release and makes a sample out of it. This sample then changes with the bpm so that it is the same length. I hardly use it because it makes the loop feel choppy and robotic most of the time.

Yeah, I would say it is worth the money to upgrade to the jj operating system if you make a lot of music. The workflow improvements and constant updates alone are enough to switch. Things like chopping samples and assigning program parameters are so much more intuitive than the akai system it's amazing. THAT DUDE jj needs to be compensated for his good ole american inginuity 8)
