1: Which OS was in your machine prior to attempting an install of 1.14C ?

2: When you say "FLASH ROM" do you mean:

a) The "FLASH ROM EXPANDER MEMORY BOARD OPTION"
b) The OS FLASH.

Regardless...

Your OS in the OS FLASH is corrupt as a result of incorrect or interrupted installation or damage prior to your failed upgrade attempt.

You could try re-installing the OS with a different version or, the same version.

If this doesn't work then you will need to obtain an OS recovery chip.

thanks for the help. i just tried reinstalling the OS from the floppy and it works fine now. weird. i had previously been running v1.14 but was having problems reading the compact flash cards on my desktop. i could format and save just fine on the mpc but my windows xp machine wouldn't even see the cards. now it works perfectly!

All good then.

Note...

Where your flash cards are concerned.

For cross platform MPC2000XL<>PC mounting/file transfer it is usual to format the flash card on your Windows PC first in FAT16 format.

That way it can be moved between computer and MPC2000XL without too much hassle.
