2000 sync protools starts at 3rd bar

I sync'd up my mpc 2000 and my protools 001. I followed instructions I found searching the forums. MPC set to MTC 30 fps; enabled protools sync to port, etc.

I press play on the MPC and it says waiting for sync. I then press play rec on PT and its starts playing back the MPC at the 3rd bar (even when set at the start). I went into the settings to make sure everything is set up ok and I havn't been able to figure this out.

It defeats the purpose of tracking to PT if i have to edit the first 3 bars of every track I record. I hope this is just a setting somewhere I'm missing. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Make sure the timeline on protools is at the first bar with the right time sig and all that cuz its posible to have protools just start on tha third bar, wich may look like the begining,

thanks man, I'll check that out when I get home. I did notice PT doing some funny stuff, like not returning to the begining of the track when I hit the l< (back to start) button. Any thoughts on that?

I always add a blank bar or two before the start of a piece that I am syncing to give everything some time to actually sync up.

I went home and checked my settings in ProTools and I think they're all correct, the timeline says 1.01.01 or somethin like that.

I don't have the 8 outs for the MPC and I'm trackin from sequences not a programed song. So I go in and solo out each track then input to PT from the 2 main outs on the MPC. How would I allow time for sync in this senario?

I know I need to hook up the 8 out I'm just low on dough right now.

I think it might be PT messin up, has anyone experienced this.

when i use PT to record with, i use midi beat clock instead of MTC. i found it synced up better. you have to set PT to send midi beat clocks out, this should be under the midi tab. send beat clock out whatever midi port you have your mpc hooked up to. then set your mpc to recieve beat clocks, this is in the same window as setting it for MTC. you should be good to go now. see what happens.

o yeah, i usually set the incoming offset to like 300 samples or so to compensate for any delay and that sh*t comes in dead on time. no latency or anything. $

dam, i dont have the PT rig in front of me right now, but i know its in one of the pull down tabs, it might actually be under the MIDI tab. but it says something along the lines of track offset. yo, actually i think its in the window tab, show offset. sorry to be so vague.
