mpc200xl to mc500 compatability back and forth

does anyone have both of these? Im going to pick up a 2kxl and from searching the forums i found that as long as i dont use ALL files on the 2kxl it should work pretty much, is that right?

Just wondering if anyone can share some tips, also if i fit an mcd to the 2kxl will the formated cf card be readable on the 500?

if anyone can share some tips or experences i'd much appreciate it. I guess if you have a 1000 and can offer tips that would help too since they have the same format as the 500.

Hey I got an XL and 500.

So far I've found that I can transfer PGMs and Seqences from XL to 500

and i can transfer the sequence back to the XL if I save it as type II.
However all the track names change to max characters eg: Track-01************

The PGMS can't be sent back. so I create all my PGMs in the XL or with "MPC Editor"

also I've found that when you load the PGM into the 500, all the samples are set to 70% Volume not 100%.

also all the Tracks are set to PGM = ?.
Therefore each track you needs to set to the loaded PGM.

so yeah you can do it, but you got to work out a procedure of transfer. Usually Starting on tthe XL. (I guess its like different versions of computer programs, you can load older versions but not older version)


the 500 is a little beast.
but the 2000XL kicks its ass in the Lab.
