The internal hard drive is a SCSI laptop drive. I don't think there is enough space in the 2000(XL) for a regular sized hard drive. I suggest that you buy an external case and install it there. Check at www.lowendmac.com for dealers who would sell the case.

Wel actually the drive that gets installed in the example is an old laptop IDE drive that got connected to a IDE-SCSI bridge thus turning it into a SCSI harddisk. So basically you could get and old IDE harddisk (they're cheaper and easier to find than SCSI harddisks) connect it to one of these IDE-SCSI bridges and stick that in an external SCSI enclosure. That way you have an external harddisk for virtually no money (face it small IDE 5gb harddisks are given away for free with boxes of breakfast cereals
).

or u can get a used scsi hard drive external off ebay and not open your mp up and it works just as good if not better...
