Im new to using equipment i have the mpc 2000xl... Canb anybody tell me how people like Kanye West get those samples to sound the way they do? Cause when I listen to the original song that they took the sample from it sounds completely different. I tried doing the 16 levels but that doesnt work...How do u do it? Please help me..

sample at 45rpm on the turntable instead of the standard 33.

not everybody samples from a turntable. you can sample from just about anything with an output. i say use the tune option on mpc. but that changes the tempo of the sample...so there may be other ways

go into the program screen and press the pad you want to put the sample on and go to the parameters screen and turn the tuning way up, it does some chipmunk effect if you turn it up too high. Why would you want to sound like Kanye anyways when he already got that style though? It's bad enough him AND just blaze done that style to death already
