Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I just received the MP 2kxl I bought a few months ago and now when I **** with it for a while I noticed that the step edit isn't working. When I go to step edit, the overdub light goes on and I can't see the events I have done in the beat(there are event cos I have layed 7 tracks already). The view-option is all events, so the events should be right front of my eyes but there's nothing.

When I scroll with the step-key(next to thr bar-key)through the sequencers events, I can hear and see the event if I have an event, let's say in 01.02.97 but I don't see it, nor the other events, if the sequencer is in the beginning of the sequence.

What is wrong with that machine? OS is 1.14, is it the latest? Could updating help? Where I can get the OS from? Sorry for these stupid questions but I have no internet available now so I need the info from one place - don't have time to google around =)

Thanks!

Ah well if you it had it on the track that you are trying to view and not a track where there would be no notes at then yeah there not gonna be there cause your on the wrong track.

Yep that's true but should the notes be displayed in a list from top to the bottom for the whole sequence? In mpc 2500 the whole sequence's midi events were displayed like that but now when I'm on 2000xl the notes are displayed only when the sequencers time is same where the note is.

I don't remember should it be like that or like the notes are displayed on 2500's step edit - listed from top to bottom for the whole sequence.

I don't think it's the same as the 2500 where everything is shown infront of you on one screen. It's more of a linear editor that you can scroll through in incraments (same as your main screen quantize setting) or by event (hold the button in the middle of the arrows and press event > or <). All this is in the manual.

no the mpc2kxl does not show events like that in step edit. it just shows the one event or events that are on whatever time and track you scroll through.

if you have a kick and a hi hat at the 3.1.00 mark on track 2 and you are viewing the step edit for that track you are only gonna see the kick and hihat even if you hear other sounds on other tracks as well.

honestly when i was playing with the 2500 at guitar center i couldnt figure out the step edit with all the sounds showing that i didnt wanna look at.
