MIDI Sequencing

I'm having problems MIDI sequencing the MPC2000XL with the Alesis Fusion?
I set up the MIDI clock and I set up track 1 with device 1A and on the fusion that's midi channel 1, but when i try to record for track 2 with device 2A, and I change the midi channel on the fusion I hear none of the sounds i recorded on track 1 with. Does anybody know to fix this problem?

are you changing the midi channels in the mixer mode or something like a performance mode?

make sure you are in seq mode on the fusion. by the way. how do you like the fusion? do you have the 6 or the 8?

I own the 8HD with an MPK1000. Hopefully I can help you out here if you haven't figured it out for yourself already. For what I think you are trying to accomplish I think you may be better off using the MIX MODE. I just made a little song with what I believe you're tryng do and it worked just fine so all I can recommend is you make sure you have your MIDI cables plugged in correctly and....? I'm in SONG mode. Track 1 is on MIDI channel 1. Track 2 is on MIDI channel 2 and so on..... On my MPC I can make a piano track using the fusion onboard sounds on track 1. Track 2 make bass track. Track 3 the drums. When I press play on my MPC everyplays as it should. When I'm using the Fusion's internal sounds I turn off the programs on the tracks I'm recording to on my MPC so I don't trigger by accident what's on my MPC's program like drums sounds or loops. I have my SOFT THRU set on AS TRACK. I believe that may be your problem there because I just retraced my steps again but I forgot to turn on the SOFT THRU to AS TRACK and I had no sounds on my tracks other than track one. Hopefully that'll fix your problems. Hollar back if it doesn't work.
