this here is for all 2000 users who don`t own the service manual.you can check wich parts are built in or their condition.possible for 8-out board and pads,SMPTE out and memory and flash-rom.you`ll be able to erase the flash-rom also, wich helped me make mine working again.

go to the service mode:

press SHIFT + 7 (you`re in the mixer screen)

than OPEN WINDOW (channel settings screen)

SHIFT + 0 (service mode starts with the flash file memory test)

by pressing the F keys you`re able to choose the parts you want to control.sometimes you`re not able to check all parts in a row,go back to the MAIN SCREEN.start the service mode again.
it took about ten minutes to check my memory, another ten to erase the flash-rom.the pads need to be hidden to check.

Yo Maxilla... you should post this info here http://www.mpc-forums.com/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=7166 also.

I didn't know the straight 2000 had that feature. I thought just the XL had it.

even Mutec didn`t know that.......I`ve been mailing them when my Flash-ROM went bad.they where very kind and told me to try to format my ROM in a S 3000 XL.than I heard of the service manual and erased the ROM with it.it worked again!
after that I mailed the people at MUTEC that this works also.they hadn`t heard of a service manual for the 2000.akai didn`t told them....
