Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I was told that i'd have to put the stereo outs from my MPC to my mbox and record that way.
but when in protools, do i just press record and play on my mpc or do i have to do something special on my mpc too... im not too sure how it all works.

the easiest thing is to just set up your track and hit record on protools, then hit play on the mpc, which mbox do you have? if you have the mbox 2 or pro you can midi the mpc to the mbox so that when u hit play on the mpc protools will start recording automatically, but u can do that if you have the mbox mini cus it dont support midi.

yeah, i only have a mini.

i figure i'll have to put one out from the mpc into the line in on the mbox (with just a patch chord?) and then set up a track on pro tools, hit record and just play it out on the mpc?

or maybe pre-record it on the mpc and hit record on protools and just hit play on the mpc..

not too sure.

Midi or no midi, you still need audio cables going out from the mpc and into the mbox.

Aside from that, it's all preference. Some record a four bar loop and work it in pro tools, personally I sequence my beat in the mpc (song mode) then I track it out to pro tools after.
