difficult question but if i crack it i'm sorted!!

hey there i have a question,

i've got my mpc2000xl working in multitrack mode, synced up to my computer with logic.. all synth modules etc. working fine.. by using the little m button to the left of the midi..

BUT...

can i get the computer to control the for 'DRUM' or program channels as well?? like can i have one channel in logic that just controls samples on drum1 and the one below it controlling drum2 etc..

if so.. how?

i've never tried it, but can this be done by sending program changes from Logic ?

i tried that and i nearly got it working.. logic is controlling the drum programs for me and midi channels going too..

now my only problem is that when i export the selection (track) as a midi file to put back on to my mpc, when i load it on to mpc through cardreader it's channels are all kind of jumbled up and i have to go in and change the channels to corespond to drum channel 1, my moog etc..

a bit fidgety, there must be a way to tell mpc what is what..

Did you try both MIDI file formats??

First off, arrange the tracks in logic corresponding to the midi channels assigned in the tracks on the mpc, i have an empty template on both mpc and logic so avoid re-arranging the channels. Once you've done that its just a matter pressing record, so there's no need to export the channels. I only do this to work out productions made on the mpc in logic, save the song to midi file type-1. This setup works great for live sets btw, unhook 2 midi cables and take my gear on the road.
