Time Stretching(Chipmunking) my samples???

I want to time stretch(chipmunk) my samples sometimes! How do I do this? I am reading the manual as I type this! Can this be done on the MPC 2000xl or should I do it the old fashoined way?????

..shift+program->choose your drum program->params->tune..go up for chipmunk, down for screwed..

That aint timestretching, that is changing the pitch, wich will also affect the length and pitch of the sample.
If you want it to sound the same but slower/faster, then timestretch is your friend (which cant be done on the XL i think)

XL can timestretch... it takes awhile... but it can be done. (Pg 106)

But yea raye73 your using the term wrong. You would use timestretch to modify the length of the sample without affecting the pitch. Tune is what you need to do to chipmunk.

Typical "Chipmunk" vocals are just speed up (using Tune on an MPC) but I think the OP sounds like he wants to keep the length, or at least you might slightly want to lengthen from the duration you are left with when pitching up a sample. The process on it's own is called Pitch-Shifting but it can effectively be done by pitching up then Time-Stretching (EG double the length with time-stretch and then play one octave higher.)
