does the mpc2000xl come standard with a low pass, band pass, and high pass filter? or do you have the purchase the efx board to obtain those effects...?

thanks

The only standard filter on the XL is the low-pass. All other EQ settings come with the optional EB-16 FX board, but I can't say that it is easy to use.

personally i found the eb16 way overpriced.. i sold that guy on a while back.
For filters i would look into some free vst stuff

damn, i was hoping there would at least be a high pass as well. theres also that akai rackmount thing, the Z series or something?

i guess that could compensate for the lack of filters, seein as the effects board seems like a b*tch to use

What effects that are on the eb16 are spoken about in the 2kxl manual.

i believe you are talking about the mfc42

I had the chance to get one of those for 150 canadian dollars but at the time I didn't have the money... too damn bad because I like the idea behind it.

I think it would be nice for someone to make a detailed review thread on that filter (if it hasn't already been done)

A friend of mine has the MFC. It is a good piece of gear, but it is way too overpriced for just a stand alone filter. And it doesn't sound that great for that price too.

i couldn't really live without the echo on eb16 and the filter thing. two things that get a lot of use. other than that not a lot you can do with it. well there's that thing with making your kick thump with modulation feedback with zero color.

overpriced but still usefull i mean i gotta have delay.

The EB16 is the optional effects board for the MPC2000(XL).

It consists of 2 multi-fx and 2 reverbs.

Multi-fx:

Distortion
4-band filter (more like an EQ)
Modulation:
Phaser
Flanger
Chorus
Rotary
Speaker
Modulation/Auto Pan
Pitch Shifter
Pitch Shifter and Feedback
Delay/Echo: Mono L, Mono L+R, X-Over L&R, Stereo
Reverb:
Hall, Room
Large Hall
Small Hall
Large Room
Small Room
Gate: Gated 1, Gated 2
Reverse

I haven't used mine in years but I remember it distorting way too easily and also not sounding that great. The Sherman Filterbank is supposed to kick the shit out of most hardware filters.

When I bought mine there wasn't that much of a difference in price... I wish i'd just saved a bit more and gone for the best instead, although the mfc42 looks good mounted onto an 2000xl. :)
