Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By anon_twist Fri May 01, 2009 3:44 am
I used the following CF reader with a Sandisk Ultra II 1GB card but the MPC isn't recognizing an ATAPI device.

I've made sure the IDE connection is seated properly to the MPC board, also tried jumper settings for both master and slave.

no dice.

the CF cards I got looked like they're refurb's. does the mpc require it to be new with no formatting done on it?

the OS is 1.14

Anything I'm missing or could try to troubleshoot further?

Are you starting your MPC with the CF card already inserted?
Is the MPC showing "?????" for the CF card or nothing at all?

thanks for the reply, Juke!

Yah, I'm booting withthe CF inserted. When I go to the Load/Setup screens it scrolls thru scsi's, floppy and F-Rom only. No Atapi shows up.

Is a power lead connected to it? I didn't see a connection for power in the above picture.

Man... I don't know... Maybe it's one of those kind of readers that needs a driver. :?:
If so then it won't work in the MPC just in a computer. Where did you buy it at?

Dude......

Take it out. Re-Install your Zip. Download AKAI's OS Version 1.20 from AKAIPRO.com

Copy the OS to a Zip disk and install the OS 1.20 on the MPC

Then, Re-Install the CF. This will no0t be hot swap. CF Card will have to be in prior to booting.

You need OS 1.20 for Compact Flash

I assume these are the OEM Addonics drives you guys have working on 1.14?

If not then I don't know. All I do know is that the CF testing I've done with these generally requires 1.20 if the drive is non-hotswap.

I assume there was additional code added which somehow provided more extensive CF compatibility.... ??

at any rate, glad you got her goin
