has my SCSI port blown....????????

those of you that have had to replace the SCSI fuse, how did you know it was blown? I'm troubleshootin' as to why my hard drive won't work and basically as soon as you click in the DEVICE field to select device to format drive you just get 'wait.....' in the window and it freezes. is this one of the things that happens when the SCSI port is f#*ked???? have written to akai too, but still waitng to hear back from them. i don't wanna send away my baby only to find out when i get it back that that wasn't the prob. thanks all.......

I never blown my fuse but maybe you did... anyone else here blow a fuse and can you tell this dude how you knew it happened?

Did you accidentially disconnect the drive while it was connected to the MPC with the MPC being on? Sounds like one of two things to me, either your HD has crashed or you need to turn OFF everything and reseat the SCSI cables and check your jumpers on the back of the HD.

I accidentaly uplugged my drive while the mpc is on and luckily nuttin happened...by the way was it working be4 this happened..

this is a new HD, 18GB and we've partitioned it into 1GB piece using a MAC. have never got the thing to work with MPC though it works perfectly with MAC-it's a brand new drive. I know that the MPC will only be able to handle 1GB of it, but we can't even get it to do that. what concerns me is that even when there is nothing connected to the SCSI port, if you spin through the DEVICE screen it still freezes!!! maybe that's normal as it's looking for sumin' that ain't there, but i'm new to this wicked machine so on not sure what the norm is. anyway, gonna try the jumper thing and shout back. keep yer ideas flowin'.....cheers

maybe a fuse like toecutter says. just make sure u get the right fuses if thats the problem cuz if not they will just blow again.

Are you using a 2000XL or the old mpc2000? The old MPC's are only compatible with drives up to 1 gig, not 18 gig... is that maybe the problem?
