flash cards

im new to the mpc so take it easy on me but another problem came up. well i got the 1 gig instead of the 2 gig and now it seems to work fine but now i save a sequence on the 1 gig then i turned off the mpc and then loaded up the 1 gig it come up but when i hit play there is no sound but it did save the tempo bars everything i created. is this something common that happends or am i not saving the right way?

You have to save your beat as an APS. then save the sequence.

This is how I usually do it I'm new too but I read almost everything I could before I even owned an MPC. I first name my sequences then I save them under All sequences and Sounds (A.S.S.), Then I save my sounds under All Programs and Sounds(A.P.S.) make sure you name it the same as your sequences, make sure when it asks to save with same sounds you say yes, and save with sounds also above. When you turn it off and load everything again just go to A.S.S. and grab your sequences then go to A.P.S. and get the sounds and your ready too go. Also with your CF card save everything on partition B or C that way A is free for dragging more samples in. I'm in the process of taking all of my samples and placing them on different partitions takes forever but it's good to have. I have a 2000 classic with the Spyrus CF Card reader and it's the best investment I've made as far as my MPC goes.

oh yea man, I also have a 2gig card it works fine just splits the data into 3 parts instead of two, ABC so the problem probably wasn't the card.

yo boogie good looking man on all the tips i will try doing what you said to do. Oh yea so to partition the card can i do that on the mp or do i need a computer because right now i dont have a daw.

yea you can do it on the MP jus pop it in and format it you don't need a computer to format it. Also I forgot to tell you to name the APS and the ASS the same as ur sequences that way you don't get everything mixed up or worst copied over.

man just imagine if everybody did that, this forum would probably only have a quarter of the posts it has now
