Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I searched and searched, but couldnt find my answer.

Sorry if this has been addressed ( hard to believe it hasnt)

I have my MPC2000XL slaved to Nuendo3 no problem

I have my MPC set to control a VSTi

when i hit the pad it plays instantly (no latency?)

However, there is a marked delay before Nuendo puts the note into the midi track (latency?)

So what I play back sounds very little like what I heard as I was recording.

Not a super nooblet, so if someone could just point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

maybe I am a nooblet :-)

I am unsure about my quantize, but its default to 1/16 right?

Alls I did was run a MIDI out from the MPC to my Tascam FW-1082 MIDI in

Then set the track to MIDI-01 and bang on the pads

It plays fine, but records awry.

Im familar with the ASIO Panel, selecting different drivers and buffer sizes, but thats not quite relevant to MIDI is it?

Thanks,

I am @ work, otherwise I would be more detailed with my settings, but im using the full on ASIO driver, at 48khz. Do you feel like my problem lies in the driver? I assumed that since I could hear my notes immediately that it wasnt a driver issue.

I just had a similar issue with midi recording in cubase. I got better performance when I switched from the sound cards driver (tascam) to ASIO4ALL. Its available free online. Also, sometimes you need to restart the application before the sttings take place so try what you will, but restart your daw to check on results.

and also change you sound ard buffer from 512 to 256
you'll get better reaction time but the amout of room for extra resources will slim down a bit
