Advice Needed

Yo i was just wonderin if any of you have any advice on how to get my sampling quality and levels up. I use a turntable connected to a stereo reciever connected to a phono preamp and then into my MPC and my levels and Quality are still low.

Good needle, good turntable, decent dj mixer straight to mpc.

phono pres arent going to give you a great quality signal for sampling, the best thing to do is to get a dj mixer (vestax. numark, stanton, pioneer) and run that into the mpc, they have better pres and eqs.

I use a decent turntable, with a shure m44g stylus straight to the MP. No mixer.

i'm doing the same thing unfortunately... the Dj mixer is the most proper way to go but i pawned mine... oops... so i'm using a pre-amp but not really having issues with the levels just sometimes alot white noise from having alot of current running through my set-up cause of alot of rack-gear and the mpc, turntable, and su-700 all powered on at the same time.... lately for my drums i won't record straight in through the pre-amp... doesn't get the clarity or smack i need so i record, chop, normalize and fade in pro-tools and sometimes even Eq so my ish is hitting right.... get the level right up to zero in the sample section on the mpc then turn the level in the trim-parameters up to 200 and then blow my ear drums out....

Get a Furman power conditioner if you dont have one already, that'll help a lot getting rid of the noise, theyre not that expensive i recommend the pl-plusc, stay away from the monster power stuff.
