Error Messages and Use As A Stand-Alone Unit

Hey there everyone. I've been searching extensively for comments on the error messages and crashing and have learned a lot. I was hoping to find some mass-posting on everything learned and determined about errors, crashes, and the conclusions or solutions people have found. A guy named dubmonkey said a SHIFT+SAVE basically resucitates the MPC when it crashes or freezes. I noticed it worked for the people who responded to that post, but nothing more. I sincerely apologize if there IS a mass post on this topic, just give me the link to that post if possible. Has anyone else tried this or discovered anything else about these errors and crashes? Will there be a section on this site addressing error messages and crashed directly? I purchased my blue 2000XL some weeks ago and an excited about the possibilities. However, it froze on me while editing a kick.

Another thing is that I've worked with an EPS 16+ for 11 years before I got the 2XL. The new addition to the fam (the lab) is getting all my attention, but my EPS is calling me with the silent treatment..."use me fool". But, I have seen and heard about the MPC being a more than decent stand-alone unit for composing music. I guess I want to fully explore the potential of the MPC as a stand-alone since my EPS was my sole unit for composing for a decade. But, the EPS is not a studio-friendly unit, lol. The EPS and MIDI are like a finicky woman! I do plan to use these units together, but just want to know how common the 2XL is the sole piece of composing power. I have even considered a rackmount sampler to compensate for some of the finer editing features the 2XL lacks...but the EPS does just that, ironically enough: efx, automatic chromatic tuning, more than decent filters, LFOs, layering, cross-fade looping, envelopes, even compression and time-slicer efx, I got on a disk from my man. But, the EPS' sequencer is always off by one note when things get thick, and like I said before...MIDI and the EPS got crazy beef in the lab for some reason!

One more thing, a mutual MPC owner told me that if you install your own memory the warranty becomes NULL and VOID. I was like, yeah right, like Akai can keep track of that...but I think they can...when you need the unit fixed! Is this nulling of the warranty true? Has anyone taken the leap and insured their unit?

yo i like to use the Main as the "main piece of studio gear", but i use about ten different things daily on my production as a whole.

About that crash issue i would say goto Akai Pro and download the newest OS, but if you have the blue one it might be updated already. Check out what version you got I think in the OTHER mode. I also would let it think while its doing something. You could be crashing it by ****in with it while its processing somethin.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I do recall trying to do this, that, the other, and something else all at once when I first jumped on the thing, lol. Wonder why the manual doesn't have a list of these error messages?

i use just the mpc, but thats cause im broke

I use just the MPC because I enjoy working with samples and tweaking them to create my own sounds. I'm broke too, but that's not why. I plan to eventually buy a keyboard, I think, maybe...? Not for nothing, in regards to warranties, nothing I ever own breaks when it's under warranty, I always have problems long after the warranty expires, like my first playstation, and my second, and my third. Anybody wonder why I never bought a PS2? Because after the warranty is void my boy's broke too, so I didn't want to go thru the same headache. I dont' even fill out warranty cards no more... I'm fed up with warranty expiration and how it relates directly to electronics malfunctioning... we should protest!

Good point. Those warranties do seem like delayed timebombs, lol...sigh.
