SO WHEN I RECORD A SAMPLE IN ..... (help)

So when I record a sample in to my 2000XL.. I play the sound longer than I need (like a string hit or something).. Hoping that when I play it on the pad it will stop playing when I stop pre ssing the pad... but I have not found out how to program it to stop playing the sample when i stop pressing the pad?? ... can anyone help me... going crazy ... reading the manual ... I know it can be done!!... somebody help me please!!!!

yeah, switch it to note off in the paramaters screen. poly makes your samples overlap when you hit on the pad simultaneously and mono cancels itself out. if you set it to note off the sample will stop when you let go off the pad
