sample assignment

new to mpc so if this is obvious it wouldnt surprise me...when i have a pgm loaded and working and then i sample something else it doesnt give me a choice of what pad it asigns the new sample to. then i go back to work on the beat and have to re asign the original sound to the pad that the sample went to and tell it where i want the new sample..is there a solution to this prob? what am i doin wrong? workin on mpc 2k classic w zip drive. thx

I think you got to live with it. I own a 2000 for ca 6 months or so and I know that behaviour but didn't find a solution.

when you sample the sound and it asks if u want to keep it u highlight the part under the name and hit a pad and it assigns it to it

Well after sampling a sound youll get KEEP or RETRY screen where you can name the sound( Sound000 ) or highlight Assign to note field and hit the pad you want to assign the sample to . easy
the same with loading a sound - Load a sound screen - highlight the Assign to note field hit the pad and press F5(keep)

thats what i thought but it doesnt give you the option to assign only to rename

Really??? Thats strange cause my MPC show me the assign field after sampling (although I never used this function. Really dont know why I didn't. )

are you sampling something, then going into zone edit and making a new sample? Because if that's the case u can only rename it there. U can assign and rename with the initial sampling.

its in the zone edit, sorry for being unclear kind of hard to type out what im doin, yea its when i sample something i assign it then go to zone edit and cut out the piece/pieces i need it doesnt give you the choice of where you want the new zone edited samples and its placing it on a pad already in use, then i have to go and re assign the original sound to the pad it went to and re assign the new sound where i want it.

All ur new samples will be in the order of chopping them in the sound: assignment section after anyway

after you sample the sound, when you get to keep, discard or retry the sample, you can name it, and assign to any pad!!!
