Its hard to find compatible old tech gear!

I dont want to waste that extra 1GB on my 2GB CF card - but I cant partition the damn thing! So thats why I thought maybe SCSI is the way to go?

Please any help is appreciated. PS I have already searched and read through all posts in here I could find.

PS
* I have a CF reader connected to the ATAPI connection that nly works with OS120 - and I cant partition the card.
* I purchased another MULTICARD ATAPI reader so I could use SD cards but it doesnt work with either OS? but its ATAPI?

Anyone tried these SCSI internal CF readers... Im curious to know if they work in the 2000xl.
I have also heard that the 2000xl OS120 cannot partition CF drives on the ATAPI connection but OS114 can?

I sent you a PM that explained all of that rather fully. Did you not see it?

Stay away from the PCD-50B and PCD-60B - those use LUN addressing and do not work properly with SCSI samplers. I have had limited success with the PCD-50B and some samplers - they can use the PCMCIA card slot only. But the samplers that it worked with were so limited - the Yamaha RS7000 and Motif 6,7,8 - that it didn't seem worth fooling with.

yeah I picked up a -60B on eBay for dirt cheap and it didn't work on the 2KXL. I use it in my PC desktop now.

Just to let the "Cheap" masses know (I am one of them) - The PCD-50B's & PCD-60B's work great as PCMCIA only readers so long as you have the firmware upgrade to allow them to Read & Write. Most of these found on ebay are of the Read Only variety when you recieve them, but I can provide anyone with this firmware upgrade if they wish... just contact me and I can email it to you ( I have no way to post this...)

I am currently using a PCD-50B with my Akai S5000 sampler using PCMCIA to CF, and PCMCIA to SD/MMC adapters and I am using 8GB CF's and 4GB SD's. I also have the Same Rig on my E-MU ESI 4000.

They look cool in the units - and only you know that 1 slot in 5 or 6 is functional.

Cheers!!

If anyone needs the Firmware update for the PCD-50B or PCD060B Just send me an email at [email protected] and I will get it to you right away.

This will allow your readers to become reader/writers. You must have a PC with Windows XP or less and a capible SCSI controller with ASPI drivers loaded attached to your device before running the firmware upgrade. I have used these devices on Akai S5000, E-MU ESI-32/4000, and Yamaha A series samplers. Most important note is that it only enables the PCMCIA slot to operate in R/W mode.

Make sure you specify if it is for a PCD-60B or PCD-50B.

Thanks.
