Looking To Install A Floppy Into My MPC2000XL.

2. This is a photo of the floppy drive I'm looking to install into my MPC2000XL. I would like to know if there is an adapter to hook the connector in the first pic to the connector on the back of the floppy drive. If you ask why I'm doin this, my MPC froze on me so I'm trying to install V.1.14 from the floppy drive. Thanks:

Yes, that is a very common adapter that can be bought at any computer supply store or Radio Shack. Just tell them you need a Molex hard drive to floppy style power adapter cable.

just curious, but why are you installing a floppy drive in 2009?

Unfortunately I didn't see this before I updated the OS to 1.14. My MPC2000XL w/internal zip drive is stuck on stupid now. The screen say "Error at 28A9 0000."

No one gave me answer on how to solve this, so I figured let me install a floppy drive so I can reinstall operating system v. 1.14. If it installs correctly, then I'll put the zip back in.

Just curious, why would you put the Zip drive back in in 2009?

Hey Juke, I know you answered the question, but this is what my MPC2000xl is looking like. The ZIP drive is installed. Everytime I turn the unit on it says insert MPC2000xl disk. When I do, this is what I get. I even have a external zip drive hooked up, but no luck:

Does your MPC work with the floppy drive when you have OS1.14 installed?

Is the zip drive you are trying to use ATAPI or SCSI? Is the ribbon cable on correctly?

Have you tried reseating your RAM?

It doesn't have a floppy drive installed. It has an internal zip drive.

The zip drive is ATAPI.

Yes, I reseated the RAM.

Do you have the jumper set correctly on the back of the Zip drive?
Is the ribbon cable to the Zip drive inserted correctly and pushed all the way into both connections?

Yes, I checked the Jumper settings and they are correct

The ribbon cable to the zip drive in inserted correctly on both end.

I guess it's off to the repair shop for this baby.
