Just a recommendation.
I had to rename some files yesterday, so i tried various programms.
This one was BY FAR the most powerful!
Bulk Rename Utility http://www.bulkrenameutility.co.uk/Download.php
Invest 20 mins. in reading the help file/experimenting (It's far easier than it looks at first sight) and it will pay off in the long run.
I found it to be propably the only tool i will ever need for such operations and a real time saver.
Thought it might be quite useful for some of you!
