1 GIG SCSI HARDDRIVE BACKUP

I have a 1 gig scsi harddrive hooked to my 2000xl, and its filling up with stuff, so is there a way to make a backup copy of this at one time, or do i have to save each thing pieace by pieace ok thanks.

You can:

1) Save it piece by piece to a memory card, Zip (it'll take awhile) or the dreaded floppy (it'll take even fkn longer) and import to your computer for back up.

2) Depending on your SCSI connection on the back of your external HD, you can buy a SCSI to USB cable to back up your files to your computer via USB. (Easiest)

or do what I do...

2) Get a SCSI PCI card (Adaptec) for a desktop computer, a SCSI cable for the external SCSI HD to the PCI card and save your files to your computer that way.

I got a 9.1 Gb HD in my external SCSI HD and I always have enough room.

ok i will try the pc cable to the drive, but when i hook it to the pc will it change my partition in anyway? right now it has partition A and partition B at 500 meg each.

I think if your HD has been partitioned by Windows as FAT16 you'll be fine.
If it was partitioned by the MPC, I think you may not see that second partition on the computer. Most likely it's been partitioned by the MPC.

That's what I was thinking when I read this thread originally. That is why I always suggest creating a minimum of 5 partitions and keeping the first one empty for use as a "staging" partition. That way, you could copy each of the other 4 partitions to the first one, one at a time, to back it up to your computer. The more partitions you create, the smaller that first, unused for permanant storage one has to be.

ok so are you saying if i fill up partition B i can copy all of B to partition A in one shot? and then transfer A to the pc, that would be great.
