Broken MPC 2000 Classic

My MPC 2000 (8 outs & SMPTE) is not functioning properly. when I plug it in and attempt to power it up, nothing happens. No lights turn on and the screen is black. I cracked it open to see if it was able to be fixed. The power supply was unplugged so i plugged it back in. I still had no response when the system was powered on. I was wondering what the problem may be. I did notice a thick, yellow substance on the power supply, maybe this has something to do with this issue. If anyone has had a similar problem, please let me know how you fixed it!

Check and see if the ribbon cable is connected the right way otherwise it will not work
if that doesnt work then list the model number of the 8 output board here.
