Yet another CF Card capacity post

Here's something I did not know was possible with the MPC2000 Classic.

We have discovered this cool feature on the CF-CARD drive and the MPC2000 Classic: it will allow you to format and use up to 8GB on a CF Card. It doesn't seem to be bothered by what I thought was an upper capacity limit of 1GB on a SCSI drive for the MPC2000 Classic.

I've been using 4GB and 8GB cards now for several days. On the 4GB CF card, I get 5 partitions (A-E) of 822MB each. On the 8GB CF card, I get 9 partitions (A-I) of 869MB each. All the partitions are fully read/write capable and no data is lost or corrupted across power down cycles.

This capability has been verified by two other customers who own CF-CARD drives. We are in the process of testing it with the MPC2000XL to see if it is capable of the same thing. Woo hoo!

I've been using 1gb cards for years with my MPC2000 because I thought they were limit.

You're saying this is not the case with the CF-CARD Drive ?

Well, 1GB would have been the limit with your Spyrus card readers. Only the CF-CARD can address that much space and being able to use 8GB makes the lack of hotswapping pretty much a non-issue. It's really like having a hard drive in the MPC2000.
