Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hey guys, I have a question about loading samples from my computer to my MPC2000XL.

I bought a USB Zip Drive and 7 Zip Disks the other day to use with the built in Zip Drive on the 2000XL I got not too long ago. However, every time I put drums on the Zip Disk, I put it into the MPC and it has to delete everything to format it. Is there some special step that I'm missing here?

Thanks.

Put the zip disk in the MPC first, goto Disk screen and press format. Then put it in the computer and drag your .wav files onto it. Or you can put it in the computer and format it FAT (not FAT32) and put the .wav's on it, the MPC should recognize a FAT formatted zip.

Thanks for the response.

That's the problem, I can't get my computer to even acknowledge that the disk is in the USB Zip Drive after I format it to the MPC2000XL. That, and I can't format Iomega Zip100's on my computer for some reason.

I like chopping up breaks from records and everything, but I don't want to spend weeks making 2 or 3 drum programs :P

Hi, I'm a new MPC2kl user and I successfully formatted the zip disk via my computer (as Fung45 said), dragged .WAV files onto it (making sure they are 44.1khz/16bit), then stuck it into my MPC. Worked perfectly. No formatting required in the MPC. Indeed, I always heard that in order to freely use the disk on both machines, you should format the zip disk on the computer only.
