Okay, I managed to find an external PCMCIA SCSI reader. I set it up on the end of my scsi chain and fitted it with a memory card adapter.
The adapter and memory card work fine (I loaded the memory card with samples on my PC) Placed the PCMCIA card in the reader/writer and it was seemed to be working properly too. When I try to read the card from the MPC the type comes up as "?????" When I open the format menu, the MPC sees the reader/writer and correctly identifies it (make/model but not storage capacity). When I try to format on the MPC I get an error message saying something like, "disk is protected" (I'm using Smart Media and there is no write-protect option). Basically I can't read or write with the device. I've tried other memory cards but no luck with either.
Maybe it's the reader/writer I'm using...
