Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

My friend has an mpc2000. He is looking for new sounds but I am trying to find out what his best options are since it only has an internal floppy drive. Does he go with a scsi zip drive, or a scsi cd drive? Can zip disk be read in the floppy drive? I think I read somewhere there is a way to convert one of these to a card reader... is that possible? I am trying to keep the cost on the low end because you can get a 2000xl or 1000 pretty cheap these days so if its going to cost the same I would rather go that route. Help me out.

ok thanks for the zip disk info. not hunting for an mpc2000xl or a 1000. He has an mpc2000, the older version. I am trying to find out if he should get an external zip drive and use zip disks for adding to his sound library, or an external cd rom w/ scsi.

I'm a real MPC nub...But I just chop up my samples on my laptop and use my external floppy disk drive to load the MP. I'm quite picky about what I sample so space is never an issue for me. I can get all the sounds I need for a beat in 2-3 floppy disks (Drums included)

I do have a zip drive on order though...
