Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

hey everyone.
Today, when I booted my 2000 I was shocked when I saw the first lines on my mp screen.
I was wondering if this has something to do with moving the unit into a different enviroment which is a bit lower of temperature and moisture in the air as the lines appeared after moving it.
i had no problems with the screen for almost a year since i bought it.
The screen is still readable - there are two or three lines on it but still it came to my concern that Ill have to get a new screen for it...
I`m moving it back to previous place to see what happenes and if the screen is going to get more lines in there.
I guess that the lcd screen issue might be caused by the moist - corrosion and other things. I also noticed that when I was tapping these pads the lines would dissapear - connection problem?
next step is to dissasembly it and clean the connectors.
Anyone had similar problem - not with the screen itself as it is obvious but with the ribbon on the lcd?

peace. Oskar

Hey oskar,
I'm sorry for that. I guess every MPC User will run thru this sooner or later.
Look at this thread

SMCs post is very informative on that issue. If you wanna know what he ment with the "tape-like" cable then take a look at the pictures I made.

using some heat, with a heat gun or a hair dryer, and applying some pressure can sometimes resolve this for a short time

Didn't follow the link to see which is was.... I've discussed it a bazillion times.... it probably covers it.

good pics yo.

I've had lines on my screen for a long time now...probably over a year. Sometimes they are there, sometimes they are not....sometimes theres 4-6 of them, sometimes just 1. It doesnt seem to affect me from getting anything done, but I know the day is coming when I'll have to break down and figure something out. And by figure something out I mean Buy a Korg Triton. :)

Is it because the silver tape is coming off or because the actual ribbon is shorting out?
