MFC42 Analog Filter

is this a nice piece to add wit the XL? Do u really need the MFC42? XL and MFC users get at me and let me kno yur thoughts Thankx!

It depends on the sound you're looking for . I have the OG 2000 and I just got the MFC42 for it about a month ago . I f#cking love this thing . It's a little complicated on signal routing at 1st (my only complaint is that there is no "bypass" button on it) but you get liquid w/ it after a couple days of experimenting . The guide that comes w/ it (I can't really call it a manual) is pretty str8 forward too . It's like the built in filters of the MPC times a hundred . ( I know you said XL users but I've had both and there's really not that much of a difference between the two besides cosmetics and some extra features )

I wouldn't say it's needed but it is definitely a nice little addition . I would say that if you were choosing between the EB16 and the MFC42 that I'd pick the MFC42 . I already had the EB16 when I got the MFC and now I don't even really use it . The MFC has 1 stereo (2-pole or 4-pole) and 1 mono filter (2-pole, 4-pole, or 8-pole) that you can either go band pass, high pass, notch, or low pass . The LFO has envelope control (ADSR) and 4 different waveform settings : triangle, square, sawtooth, and random . There's also a phase shifter, 2-band EQ, and a distortion feature . And one of my favorite features is the tap tempo key like the MPC's to sync your filtering . You can record all of the MIDI data to a track on your MPC and freak it however you want or switch it up on different sequences . Hope this helps , peace .

i got my mfc42 before i had my mpc and i love it to bits, i use it thru the send/returns on my desk, it is a relly nice filter unit, u can get really clean sweeps on it or turn things into the nasty of nasty

it has inputs for a turntable right? phono ins and a ground? i was thinking of getting one instead of a DJ mixer. i would hook a CD player to the RCA ins and a turntable to the phono ins and then run the outputs right into the sample inputs on my MPC. it seems to me this could be a cool way to add some color(EQ, distortion, filters) to my samples even before they make it to the MPC pads.

so to the owners out there...am i bugging or would this work? thanks!

the only thing i dont like is that when i bought it it was like 600 EURO
and now its the half of the price so new owners are lucky
