Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I got the interface hooked up to the MPC. Interface OUT goes into MPC IN, and Interface IN goes into MPC out... I press shift+9 and Sync In and Sync Out are set to MIDI clock (Someone told me to do this, is it right?) From there, i got into Cool Edit Pro/Audition and cant get it all after. Its a simple interface i got off ebay with the USB going into my PC and its attached to little thing with the MIDI I/O cables coming out the other end. Im trying to track my beats to get them in an mp3.

1. Plug stereo 1/4" cable from MPC AUDIO outs to AUDIO input of interface
2. Open DAW (Cool edit, Audition etc.)
3. Make new audio track in DAW
4. Set audio track input to correspond with inputs of interface with 1/4" plugged in
5. Press record in DAW
6. Press play all on MPC
7. Press stop in DAW

That's how you record the sound from your instrument(drum machine/sampler) onto a computer. Forget about MIDI you don't need it to do what you're trying to do.

If you want to add things to your track with ease set the BPM and time signature of your project the same as it is on your MPC. Erase any blank space at the start of the sound you recorded and shift it over to the start of the project.
