Trouble sampling from laptop

So Im fairly new to the MPC2000xl but I have used several DAWs in the past. Basically I have no problems sampling into the MPC from other drum machines and synths, but when I try to run a sample from the laptop into the MPC...Im left with TONS of popping and scratching to the point where if I set the Rec Gain to the bare minimum I still hear it very loudly. Is it a Vista issue? or a Soundcard (Conexant) issue??

It's the power supply
charge the laptop up, yank out the power chord and you should be good to go.

If it's the laptops power supply causing ground loop, just put a ground lifter on the power supply, this does the same as removing it all-together, but I suspect you are hearing interference from your laptop's hard drive, bleeding into the output of your internal soundcard. Go for a better external soundcard and you'll notice a big difference.
