Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

ok, I've done a search and found the stuff on file naming (8 characters etc)...but no cigar/blunt

The problem is that when I export a program from the MPC Editor, it gives a wav file a name such as KICK001~1. The MPC doesn't recognise this and calls the same file KICK001_1.

That means that when I edit the program on the MPC and save it, it can't find the wav files next time I boot up the MPC and load the program.

Does anyone know why the MPC Editor names the files like this if the MPC doesn't recognise them, or how I can get round this...

cheers for your help

Save the program with the sounds and it should be straight.

you need to change all of your file names to 8 characters or less BEFORE you make your pgm in mpceditor. i dont think mpceditor actually changes file neames to fit the 8 character rule.
