loading wavs on mpc

Hi, ive tried loading wavs from a disk on the mpc but it doesnt work. I thought it would as wav is a pretty standard audio format. I first transfered the files to floppy disk on a pc but trying to load them on the mpc it says something to the effect of not recognized file type (the file name shows up on the load disk screen though)

are your wavs 16bit or 24? the mpc only reads 16bit wav files...

that could be the prob ill have to check
