has anyone ever had this problem...

lately when i take a sample, copy it, pan both and create a wider stereo sample the side that i pan first ALWAYS sounds louder than the 2nd... i thought i was buggin cuz i would usually take the orig sample and pan it hard right then the 2nd hard left, so i switched it... but the same thing still happens... it's weird and very noticeable w/ some samples... any ideas

p.s it's not a case of tweaks not set right cuz i leave everything @ the original setting when i have this type of intention

are you working with a stereo or mono signal? Sounds like some sort of phase issue. Might be best to do something like that in the final mix.

mono but usually that type of issue causes either a flange type sound or it throws other stereo sounds out of wack too and it doesnt... that is a reoccurring thought tho... it's just that sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesnt...

j rhodes that sounds like a cool idea, but personally i usually pan on the MPC a little for contrast. i would go with dopedee fully doing that in a final mix.

i used to do this when all i used was my roland box so it's no major thing to go back 2... thanks yall

figured it out... it was a matter of lowering the side that played louder and leaving the lower side alone...

in other words sample A (louder) was lowered to 70 and sample B remained @ 100... as much as i appreciate computers... id rather do as much as possible in my xl... i get too distracted on the laptop...

when i set the samples up this way it balanced the field out great... thanks for all replies...
