MPC2000xl Compact Flash Reader

is there a certain size flash card that the reader on the mp cant read or register, or do i need to do something extra... i just purchased a 4GB Sandisk Ultra compact flash, and when i put it in the card reader it doesnt recognize it...i tried to format it but it said error, all the other flashes i have are 512MB and i never had this problem i just put em in and they worked...i've searched all over the web for an answer to this problem and i couldnt find anything so if anyone has any useful information it would be most appreciated thanks to all

This depends on the os and the card reader.
Some card readers are only supported by os 1.20 which no longer supports the possibility to format with multiple partitions, in this case 1GB is the maximum size. My card reader works perfectly fine with os 1.14. This allows me to use cards that are bigger than 1GB because os 1.14 can format with partitions.

I was told that you could buy any size card but when reformatting it will automatically only be able to use 1gb. I was told this buy the manufacture of the card reader i purchased. Recently ordered a couple cards, they haven't arrived yet so i won't know for sure until they come.

The sandisk compact cards work fine.

I just got my card reader today and bought the 4 gb card(that's all they had)But i can only use 1 gb.It's not a problem but maybe sooner or later they will update it to where you can use over 1gb.

Maybe you should partition the card into 4 parts, each partition at 1gb.
You can create partitions on the 2kxl. Try that.

Yeah i was thinking of trying that.I was just so happy to get it as soon as i popped the card in i formatted it and loaded it up. :lol:

Follow the steps on Page 155 in the manual.
If I remember it also depends on which OS you are using for the XL.
