When you put on -12 or +12 value on the tuning, it = one octave down or one octave up. You can even take that step further and continue to subtract by 12 or add by 12 to have more octaves, but the further you go, the less accurate it is.
This is perfect for a chord or a 1bar + sample. If you just have a one note sample, you can really experiment with any tuning value you want. This is for those who appreciate music theory, but then again, I've also heard tracks that have accidental notes that sound good anyway. So use your ears.
This keeps your music in the same key signature, and gives you more to freak with. I usually have the original and make two copies, one an octave down the other an octave up. You can come up with some dope arrangements.
Also, if you have a 1bar + sample that sounds bad when you time stretch it too much, you can pitch it down or up an octave to get it closer to your desired speed. Once you pitch it, you can time stretch it again to get it perfect.
This is just a little somethin' soemthin'. I'm sure ya can add more to this.
